OBJECTIVES
This Workshop is the third of a series of international conferences organized in Pisa, by the Physics Department of the University of Pisa and the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa on the subject of supercooled fluids, glasses and amorphous materials. The other meetings were held in 1995 and 1998 and were attended by over 140 scientists.
The dynamical processes occurring in supercooled fluids involve different length and time scales. Fast and ultra slow molecular rearrangements take place in the presence of microscopic, mesoscopic and macroscopic organization of the fluid. Their combined effects are of particular relevance in many branches of science, technology and engineering. The complete characterization of the relaxation behaviour of supercooled fluids requires the use of many experimental techniques in order to span the relevant frequency and wavevector ranges. Theoretical studies accounting for the non-equilibrium nature of supercooled fluids are well developed and involve in particular molecular dynamics and identification of possible universal behaviours. The main objective of the workshop is to bring together liquid state physicists, chemists and engineers, to comparatively discuss experimental facts and theoretical predictions.

WELCOME TO PISA
Famous for its magnificent Piazza dei Miracoli and Torre Pendente, Pisa retains a medieval historical centre of rare charm. Examples of Medicean and Lorraine art are to be found side by side with Roman and Etruscan remains. The extremely favourable geographical position of the city accounts in part for its glorious past. A quick-reference guide to Pisa is available.
Pisa lies 10 km from the sea and within a range of 100 km lie the jewels of Tuscany, one of the most beautiful Italian regions: Firenze, Lucca, Siena, Volterra, S.Gimignano, the Versilian and Maremma coastal regions, Garfagnana, and the Apuan Alps.
The University of Pisa was founded on September 1343 by Pope Clemente VI in his Papal Bull "In supremae dignitatis". Pisa is also the seat of a prestigious academic institution, the Scuola Normale Superiore, founded by Napoleon in 1813. Among the Pisan physicists one may mention Galilei, Matteucci, Felici, Mossotti and Pacinotti. In this century E.Fermi and C.Rubbia obtained their degree at the University of Pisa and the Scuola Normale Superiore.

GETTING THERE
Pisa is easily reached from almost everywhere. From Europe several flights go directly to Pisa Airport. Intercontinental fligths arrive to Roma or Milano, where domestic flights are available. Pisa airport is located very close to the city. Coming by train, one will arrive at the FS railway station Pisa Centrale which is located in the centre of the city. Coming by car, follow the indications to the centre of the city. A "clickable" map of Pisa downtown is available. The Conference Hall is in the fourth-row, second-column area of the grid ( close to the red point #31).
