Curriculum Giancarlo is an Italian PhD student and researcher at the Technical School of Telecommunications (ETSIT) of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). He studied Electronics Engineering at the Italian Polytechnic of Bari specializing in Microelectronics and Semiconductor Technologies. In 2004, with an Erasmus scholarship, he went to Madrid where he completed his studies and realized his Master Thesis on low-cost tomographic reconstructions by commodity graphic processors means. After graduation in 2006, he obtained an UPM fellowship, which allowed him to begin his Ph.D. studies in the UPM's Biomedical Image Technologies Group. Currently, he is working on a thesis on digital PET systems as a member of the Biomedical Image Technologies Group at UPM and is actively involved in a joint project with the FIIG where he stays now as a visiting student.
