Amateur astronomy

The instrument I am using is an oldish Meade LX50 8in which I bought second hand. I take pictures either at the focus with webcams (Philips PCVC740K or an old Philips PCVC 640), or with a Nikon 950S, taking the shots from the eyepiece.

I make a point of using Linux software, as much as possible. I currently use my laptop to interface to the webcams, I run Suse 9.1, kernel 2.6.5-7.145 (at the time of writing this page!). For the acquisition, I use camstream. The kernel needs an appropriate driver, I use the ones you can find here.
