In the framework of the Erasmus Mundus European programme , we can propose grants also for European students : as you can see below, European student scan benefit from grants for the second semester to study in Japan or Switzerland. European students can apply till 20th June 2008.

European Master MamaSELF
Rennes 1 University, Technische University Munchen (TUM) and Torino University are pleased to inform you about the Master Erasmus Mundus Master called MamaSELF :
Master in Material Science exploiting European Large Scale Facilities.
Mamaself is a one year full time Master aiming to promote the scientific collaboration between universities, large scale facilities and industry.
During the Master, the student will acquire competencies using large scale facilities (neutron and synchrotron radiation) for applied and fundamental research in Industry and Research Laboratories.
European and non-European students can apply
This Master is the result of the collaboration between 3 universities : Rennes 1 univsersity, (France), University of Turino, (Italy), Technical University München (Germany), and the participation of the Ludwig Maximilians University München (Germany).
Each student of the Master will have to spend one semester in two of the three universities.
The Master degree will be delivered by two of the three universities, so the students will receive a double Master degree in Material Science.
Several important Large Scale Facilities strongly support this Master. They contribute to the organisation of the summer school and will also host students in the second semester to follow research activities : ESRF and ILL (Grenoble , France), LLB (Saclay, France), DESY (Hamburg, Germany), FRM-II (Munich, Germany).
Grants for non -European students :
For each academic year the consortium of universities selects non-european students who will receive a grant. Each non European student will receive a grant of 21 000 euros per year.
Grants for European students :
In the framework of the Action III of the Erasmus Mundus Programme, even European students can benefit from a grant : the Action III grant is meant to allow european students to travel to one of our partners outside europe for the second semester, to Japan or Switzerland. (Grant of 31000 euros).
Admission
Students must have 240 ECTS (or equivalent ) in Material Science or related disciplines (chemistry, physics, geoscience,…) good academic records and good English competencies. The application form is available on the Mamaself web site : mamaself@univ-rennes1.fr. The deadline for electronic submission for non-EU students is : 15 February 2008, for EU-Students : 20 June 2008.
Free language courses
Instruction language is english for lectures. The Mamaself proposes level-adapted language courses in French, German and Italian, depending on the hosting university, for free.
