Our laboratories are conceived and organized to provide students with a smooth and highly effective path to master experimental methods, data analysis, and the use of complex instruments and technologies.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h5 id=\"at-23620\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Laboratories during the first two years<\/h5><div id=\"ac-23620\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>Students who successfully complete the <strong>Lab 1<\/strong> and <strong>Lab 2<\/strong> courses will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>perform measurements related to mechanics, thermology, geometrical optics, and rationalize the behavior of electronic circuits with analog or digital components, with specific instrumentation (also remotely controlled), and automatic data-acquisition hardware (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arduino.cc\/\">Arduino<\/a> open-source platform);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>estimate the uncertainties associated with measurements, and apply basic statistical tools to experimental data analysis;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>use computers to plot and analyze data, test the compatibility of measurements and models, write and execute a Python script for data analysis and presentation, use LaTeX for writing reports.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h5 id=\"at-23621\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Laboratories during the third year<\/h5><div id=\"ac-23621\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>The two alternative courses, <strong>Laboratorio 3<\/strong> and <strong>Tecnologie Digitali<\/strong>, provide equivalent in-depth coverage of the functioning of electronic devices and circuits\u2014both analog and digital\u2014as well as sensor technology. The Laboratory 3 course places greater emphasis on the <em>understanding and design of circuits<\/em>, and its program includes experiments that highlight both the classical and quantum aspects of matter (e.g., measurement of the e\/m ratio, Franck-Hertz experiment, photoelectric effect). The Digital Technologies course focuses more on <em>programming and automation techniques<\/em>, and includes experiments ranging from classical physics (e.g., Lambert-Beer law, chaotic circuits) to modern physics (e.g., conductance quantization, spin resonance, rubidium spectroscopy).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both courses and advanced laboratory, which can be taken as one of the elective
