Il mio principale interesse scientifico e` lo studio dei componenti elementari della materia e delle loro interazioni. Attualmente il miglior modello che descrive la struttura elementare della materia e` il Modello Standard, una teoria costruita negli ultimi 50 anni ed il cui ultimo componente, il bosone di Higgs e` stato misurato solo 10 anni fa. Nella mia vita scientifica ho esplorato molti aspetti del Modello Standard. Negli utimi anni, con l\u2019esperimento ATLAS, ho potuto studiare il settore delle interazioni forti (QCD), elettro-deboli ed ho partecipato alla scoperta del bosone di Higgs. Quello che trovo particolarmente interessante in ATLAS e` il largo spettro di studi che si possono portare avanti. Essendo un fisico sperimentale ho da sempre lavorato anche allo sviluppo di rivelatori. My main scientific interest is in the experimental study of the elementary components of matter and their interactions. Presently the best model describing the matter structure at elementary level is the Standard Model, a theory built in the last fifty years and whose last components, the Higgs Boson, has been measured in 2012. In my scientific life I have explored this model in many ways. In the last years, with the ATLAS detector, I have tested the Standard Model theory in the QCD, Electro-Weak and Higgs sector. What I find particularly interesting in ATLAS is the wide range of physics studies possible to carry out.
\nBeing an experimental physicist I have always also worked at the development of detectors. Presently I work on new developments on hadron calorimetry and trigger.
