Dal 2008 ha lavorato al PET monitoring in-beam in adroterapia, ottenendo una Marie Curie fellowship. \u00c8 stato membro dell'unit\u00e0 coordinatrice del progetto INSIDE (PRIN-MIUR 2011) per lo sviluppo di un sistema PET presso il Centro Nazionale di Adroterapia Oncologica di Pavia. Nel 2014 \u00e8 stato visiting researcher del Department of Radiation Oncology, Massachusetts General Hospital e Harvard Medical School a Boston (USA), dove ha lavorato alla simulazione Monte Carlo di fasci di protoni. Ha partecipato al progetto TRIMAGE (FP7-COOPERATION, 2015-2018) come membro dell'unit\u00e0 coordinatrice per lo sviluppo di un sistema di imaging PET\/MRI\/EEG del cervello. \u00c8 stato Co-PI e leader del WP3 (rilevatore TOF-PET) e del WP4 \u200b\u200b(FPGA-Based DAQ) del progetto ERA-NET UTOFPET finanziato dall'UE H2020 (2018-2021).<\/p>","attivita_en":"<p>Giancarlo Sportelli has more than fifteen years of research experience in medical physics, focusing on radiation detector technologies and their applications in nuclear medicine. Since 2008, he worked on in-beam PET monitoring in hadrontherapy, having a Marie Curie Fellowship in this field. He was member of the coordinating unit to the INSIDE project (PRIN-MIUR 2011) for the development of a PET monitoring system at the National Center for Oncological Hadrontherapy in Pavia. In 2014, he was visiting researcher of the Department of Radiation Oncology, Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston (USA), where he worked on the Monte Carlo simulation of proton beams. He participated in the TRIMAGE project (FP7-COOPERATION, 2015-2018) as a member of the coordinating unit to develop a multimodal brain PET\/MRI\/EEG imaging system.
