{"id":5953,"date":"2025-05-14T10:57:30","date_gmt":"2025-05-14T08:57:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.df.unipi.it\/?p=5953"},"modified":"2025-05-14T11:07:38","modified_gmt":"2025-05-14T09:07:38","slug":"the-quantum-revolution-in-metrology-from-quantum-hall-effect-to-the-revolution-of-the-international-system-of-units-a-journey-with-prof-k-von-klitzing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.df.unipi.it\/en\/the-quantum-revolution-in-metrology-from-quantum-hall-effect-to-the-revolution-of-the-international-system-of-units-a-journey-with-prof-k-von-klitzing\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cThe Quantum Revolution in Metrology\u201d: from Quantum Hall Effect to the revolution of the International System of Units &#8211; a journey with Prof. K. von Klitzing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>On May 21, 2025<\/strong>, as part of the seminar series &#8220;<strong>The EQUATE Seminars \u2013 Meet Quantum Science and Technology<\/strong>&#8220;, organized by INFN Pisa Division and CNR-NANO with the support of the University of Pisa, Prof. Klaus von Klitzing, Nobel Laureate in Physics (1985), will give the seminar entitled: &#8220;<strong>The Quantum Revolution in Metrology.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. K. von Klitzing is heading the department &#8220;Low Dimensional Electron Systems&#8221; at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart, Germany.<br>He studied Physics at the Technical University of Braunschweig, starting his scientific career at the University of W\u00fcrzburg and becoming professor at the Technical University of Munich (1980-1984). In 1985, he was appointed Honorarprofessor at the University of Stuttgart and Director and Scientific Member at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research.<br><strong>In 1985, Klaus von Klitzing was awarded with the Nobel Prize in Physics &#8220;for the discovery of the quantized Hall effect&#8221;<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>When and where:<\/em><strong> <\/strong>21 May at 4 p.m., Aula Magna Nuovaof Palazzo della Sapienza, University of Pisa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Contacts:<\/em><strong> <\/strong>Dr. F.
