Open Days for the Master’s Degree in Physics in Pisa: on April 15 and 16, 2026, two days dedicated to orientation and research

The Department of Physics “E. Fermi” at the University of Pisa is organizing the Open Days for the Master’s Degree in Physics, scheduled for April 15 and 16, 2026.

Two days dedicated to university orientation, designed to offer a closer look at the Department’s academic programs and research activities.

The Open Days program for the Master’s Degree in Physics

During the Open Days, students will have the opportunity to experience the Department firsthand:

Morning: guided tours of the research laboratories, to discover ongoing scientific activities (registration form for the laboratory visit)

Afternoon: meetings with Master’s Degree faculty members, who will present courses, study paths, and academic opportunities

The initiative represents a key moment for students to orient themselves in choosing a Master’s Degree in Physics, offering direct contact with professors, researchers, and study environments.

The inauguration of the radio telescope

One of the most anticipated moments will be the inauguration of the Department’s radio telescope—the largest in Italy for educational use—scheduled for April 15 at 6:00 PM.

The event will feature distinguished guests:

  • Roberto Vittori, astronaut
  • Piero Bianucci, science journalist
  • Riccardo Zucchi, Rector of the University of Pisa

During the ceremony, the winning project of the contest for the creation of the radio telescope’s name and logo will also be announced.

An opportunity to learn about the Master’s Degree in Physics

The Open Days are designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the Department, highlighting:

  • the quality of advanced education in physics
  • opportunities to participate in research projects
  • academic and professional prospects after graduation

Support for out-of-town students

To encourage participation, the Department has launched a call offering financial support for students enrolled at other universities who will travel to attend the event. The support covers part of the travel and accommodation expenses.
