Presentation

Maria Giuseppina Bisogni is Full Professor of medical physics at the “E. Fermi” Department of Physics at the University of Pisa and a research associate at the Pisa division of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN). She is currently the deputy director of the Medical Physics Specialization School at the University of Pisa. Throughout her career, she has focused on the development of systems for medical imaging and radiation dosimetry using techniques derived from nuclear physics. She has led numerous research projects, including the INSIDE project, funded by the Ministry of University and Research, INFN, and the National Center for Oncological Hadrontherapy (CNAO). INSIDE is an imaging system for the in-vivo verification of hadrontherapy treatments, currently undergoing clinical trials at CNAO.

She is a member of the INFN’s National Scientific Commission 3, which coordinates research on nuclear physics and its applications. She is also the founder and a member of the scientific committee of the first Italian Multidisciplinary Research and Implementation Center for FLASH Radiotherapy (CPFR), recently established in Pisa and promoted by the University and the Pisa University Hospital, the INFN in Pisa, and the Institute of Neurosciences of the National Research Council (CNR).
