Galilean Days 2026: Pisa Celebrates Galileo

From February 13 to 16, 2026, Pisa pays tribute to Galileo Galilei with a new edition of the Giornate Galileiane, a rich program of events dedicated to science, public outreach, and dialogue between the humanities and technological innovation.

The initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Pisa together with local scientific and cultural institutions such as the University of Pisa, features documentary exhibitions, educational talks, astronomical observations, theatrical performances, and science talks, involving some of the city’s most significant venues.

Among the main events:

  • the documentary exhibition “Galileo in Pisa” at the State Archives (February 13 and 16);
  • the outreach events “From Galileo to AI” at the Logge di Banchi (February 14 and 15);
  • the evening event “The Speaking Star: The Moon from Galileo to Gravitational Waves” at the Bastione del Parlascio;
  • sky observations with telescopes in Piazza Garibaldi;
  • the theatrical storytelling performance “The Great Clockmaker” at Palazzo Reale;
  • the talk “Listening to the Universe with Gravitational Waves,” curated by the European Gravitational Observatory.

All events are free of charge.
