Research activities
My main research interests focus on instrumentation, simulation and data analysis for high-energy astrophysics. I have extensive experience in the design of innovative detector systems, and I have provided substantial contributions to the development, operation and scientific exploitation of the NASA Fermi Large Area Telescope—a space-based, high-energy gamma ray telescope launched in 2008—and IXPE (Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer), a new-generation X-ray telescope with unique polarimetric capabilities launched in 2021, of which I am the Italian Co-Principal Investigator.
