Research activities

My research focuses on nanophotonics, plasmonics, and optical metamaterials, with particular emphasis on the design, fabrication, and characterization of nanostructured systems with tailored electromagnetic responses. A central theme of my work is the development of hybrid photonic–plasmonic architectures and metasurfaces, aimed at controlling light–matter interaction at the nanoscale and beyond the diffraction limit.
A specific line of investigation concerns the exploitation of epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) materials and resonant nanostructures to achieve ultra-high spatial resolution in two-photon direct laser writing, enabling advanced 2D and 3D nanofabrication strategies. In parallel, I study resonant phenomena in metamaterials, including Fano-type and strong-coupling effects, with applications to high-sensitivity optical sensing, flat optics, and anti-counterfeiting technologies.
My research approach is strongly experiment-driven and interdisciplinary, combining nanofabrication, optical spectroscopy, and electromagnetic modeling, with the goal of identifying robust physical mechanisms for advanced control of light at the nanoscale and the realization of functional photonic devices.
