Ten Years of Gravitational Waves: A Study Afternoon at Polo Fibonacci on Achievements and Future Prospects

On September 14th, 2015, the first signal of gravitational waves was detected — a landmark discovery that has transformed our understanding of the Universe and of gravity, the fundamental force shaping the evolution of the cosmos. This achievement represents one of the greatest successes of modern physics and was recognized with the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2017.

To mark the tenth anniversary and to discuss future directions in gravitational-wave research, a study event will take place on September 24th at the Polo Fibonacci (https://agenda.infn.it/e/gw10pisa). The program will bring together students and researchers from the University of Pisa, the INFN Pisa Section, and the Scuola Normale Superiore to reflect on the milestones achieved to date and the perspectives that lie ahead in this rapidly evolving and fascinating field of cosmic exploration.
