The Department of Physics took part in Lucca Comics with its researchers to present the escape room HEPscape! on particle physics at Lucca Comics, which took place from October 28 to November 1, 2025.
Each escape room session lasted about 40 minutes, during which participants, through teamwork, explored the physics of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Geneva — the most powerful particle accelerator in the world. They learned how a particle accelerator and a high-energy physics experiment work, what kinds of particles exist, and how they are studied. A total of 744 people took part in the event.
The researchers of the Department of Physics involved were:
Chiara Ahimè
Marco Cipriani
Silvio Donato
Andrea Carlo Marini
Francesco Tenchini
Alessandro Maria Ricci
Marco Sozzi
The event was organized by the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) of Pisa.
