Research activities

I work on several topics in theoretical astrophysics and cosmology. My main research interest is investigating the formation and evolution of galaxies in the Epoch of Reionization. I study the chemical, mechanical, and radiative feedback regulating the interaction between the intergalactic and interstellar medium, with particular attention to how such complex interplay shapes the properties of the early galaxies and their internal structure, down to molecular cloud scales, the birthplace of stars. I develop theoretical models based on refined, cosmological, radiation hydrodynamical, simulations that are used to predict the properties and the emission of galaxies in the early Universe: such comparison is vital to understanding current observations, possibly guiding future surveys and instruments, and thus in turn to constrain theoretical models and thus improving our understanding of the early Universe.
