The Bachelor’s Degree in Physics ends with an assessment of the student’s ability to clearly present and discuss a topic covered during the study program, using appropriate language and communication skills. The topic is usually suggested by a professor from the program, who also acts as a tutor or supervisor and ensures it is approved by the examination committee. The final examination consists of writing a long abstract and giving an oral presentation of a maximum of 10 minutes, followed by possible questions. The final exam is worth 3 ECTS credits.

All the procedures use Google Forms accessible with University credentials. Please log in using your institutional email n.surname#@studenti.unipi.it. For details, visit https://start.unipi.it/gsuite/.
To take the graduation exam, a set procedures must be carried out both for the University of Pisa and the Department of Physics, in advance of the graduation session (for specific dates, see the Graduation Sessions table):
| By… | What needs to be done |
| 30 days before the call |
For UniPi. Submit the Graduation Application via the Alice portal. If in doubt, consult the instructions on the UniPi “Graduation Exam” page. For the Department. Fill out the “Graduation Application” form (link in the Graduation Calls and Deadlines table), attaching:

For UniPi. No action required. For the Department. Fill out the “Slides Submission” form (link in the Graduation Calls and Deadlines table), attaching the presentation in PDF format(*). Note: the three days do NOT include public holidays. |
(*)Preparing and submitting your presentation in advance will also allow for a short “rehearsal” to be arranged a few days before the defense, to ensure that everything works properly.
Please note that photographers for graduation exams must be accredited (see the guide “Choosing Photographers for Graduation Exams”). To use a trusted professional photographer, their name must be submitted via email to segrdida@df.unipi.it within 15 days of the opening of the graduation session.
This is necessary to issue the “Invited Photographer” pass required to access the room where the graduation ceremony will take place. The pass must be collected at the Physics Department reception desk (Largo Pontecorvo, 3), upon presentation of a valid ID, which will be returned when the pass is handed back.
