Researchers from the Department of Physics Awarded by Springer for Best 2024 Paper in Brain Informatics

The paper “Deep learning based joint fusion approach to exploit anatomical and functional brain information in autism spectrum disorders”, published in the journal Brain Informatics (Vol. 11, No. 2, 2024), has been awarded by Springer as the best paper published in the journal in 2024.

Among the authors are Piernicola Oliva, Professor of the Department, and Sara Saponaro, who completed her specialization at the Department’s School of Medical Physics in 2024. The article, supervised by Alessandra Retico (INFN), was the subject of Dr. Saponaro’s specialization thesis.

The paper presents an innovative approach based on deep learning techniques for the joint fusion of anatomical and functional brain information in the study of autism spectrum disorders, providing a significant contribution to the field of Brain Informatics.
